There is supposed to be some mention of Jones' dismissal on the show tonight, says the report, and Cornett confirms that her son was interviewed about the matter for the show. She says she was confused about the reasons for Jermaine's disqualification because each contestant goes through a background check. But TMZ followed up with a list of incidents, two in which Jones was reportedly arrested for having outstanding warrants, and allegedly gave a fake name to police.
The story says he was once charged with public nuisance and obstruction of justice, and another time charged with hindering apprehension and giving false information to avoid self-discovery. The warrants involved: Three for driving with a suspended license, one for disorderly conduct with an open container, said TMZ.
A previous TMZ story focused on Jones' relationship with his father, alleging that Jones had fabricated the notion that his father wasn't present in his life. Cornett said she's not sure why Jones' father contacted TMZ, but that the two did have a relationship, though Jermaine did not want to talk to the press about it.
On Twitter last night, Jones retweeted supportive messages from fans. But now, that account has been deleted, and one of Jones' Facebook pages is also gone. Cornett says she and Jermaine remain thankful that his voice has been so widely heard. Follow AmyKup.
