Can you discard 2 machina fortress

Your argument is non sequitur because a difference in ruling NEVER directly follows from the differences in text. For a difference in ruling to actually follow in argument, a difference in meaning of text must be proven and determined. The Simorgh example fails to do this. The pattern used by Machina and most others is the "te" pattern - i. The pattern used by Simorgh is "koto de" - "insert things to do here"-koto de, "insert Special Summon stuff here.

The problem with using this to say "Machina is inherent, Simorgh effect" is that "koto de" and "te" mean nothing in terms of an inherent vs. In terms of all other uses between "koto de" and "te" in this regard, "te" denotes two parts of an effect - think "you can discard X and Special Summon this card from your hand", as found on several Magoushinjuu cards.

On those, you'll find the "te" format. A derivative from koto de is "koto ga dekiru" - the hallmark which means "you can", or more literally, means "you can do".

This is also false; "mataha" only displays a choice of alternatives, as evidenced in the word "or". Example of proper use of "mataha" would be on EEV - where, again, we see "or", used for "Spell or Trap".

There is, indeed, nothing in the text to actually support "the text is different so it works differently". If any card between the two is written in the style of card effects, it'd be Machina - and the only reason why I could so easily say that Machina isn't SS'd by effect before the TCG copy was made was by sheer precedent.

Machina's writing style - the "te" form - is identical to that of Sorcerer. The differing writing style, in nearly all cases throughout game writing, is either a revision or rhetorical flourish - and has no gameplay impact. Consider when Piercing was rewritten so that no one would mistake it as a Trigger Effect ever again - or maybe that was before your time. Simorgh's differences seem more like that.

Implies that an effect isn't happening in these scenarios. It isn't saying you are doing the summon but rather the event is possible. Doesn't have this implication; you are doing it yourself. The wording obviously matters, all summoning conditions that I know of have the koto ga dekiru. Simorgh doesn't have it, instead it simply has the verb.

The only exceptions are old cards, like chaos sorcerer You're koto de and te form argument is complete bull, only the fact that koto is being used has any relevance. They have no difference in meaning whatsoever, you would do better to argue the significance of using koto rather than tie te or de in this. As for mataha, I have to concede this point right now I will have to look up some stuff later but don't have time now.

I might have to rethink how some things translate. Not every instance of "or" uses mataha, i need to find out why. I have limited knowledge of exact Japanese texts and could only think of other cards like E-tele port using it Machina Madness!
